Another excellent achievement for one of the TJL team, Ruairidh Clark, our 4th year joinery apprentice who has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition from The Trades House of Glasgow at this year’s Glasgow Modern Apprentice Awards 2019.
Ruairidh’s apprenticeship journey has taken him on a slightly unexpected route as two years into his apprenticeship he had an unfortunate accident outside work in which he broke a leg, forcing him to take time off from factory work. Having worked hard proving his commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to his apprenticeship, Michael Hillman, our Manufacturing Manager, offered Ruairidh the opportunity to return to work as a trainee in Setting Out and he was delighted to accept.
Ruairidh continues to thrive in this trainee position and while his task load and daily operations have shifted quite dramatically he will qualify in August with a broadened skillset beyond joinery thanks to his unique experience.
Well done Ruairidh!
We have more brilliant examples of the wonderful pieces being produced this week in our factory which showcase the incredible capabilities of our Manufacturing Division. These images show seating for Santander Bank, curtain pelmets for Holiday Inn Express, Edinburgh and storage and seating for Maidenhill Primary School.
Exciting times in our 30, 000 sq. ft factory!
Great progress being made with stage 1 groundworks on TJL’s Small Works Division's new bio-filter project who we are working in partnership with Enva & GICOM.
Last year during the summer months our manufacturing department crafted bespoke pieces for The Orkney Distillery which produces gin inspired by the rich history of its surroundings.
In addition to these works, we have now produced Corian based branded coasters which were CNC’d, sanded and then sent to The Orkney Distillery and Visitor Centre where they are now on sale (as seen below).
We are extremely pleased with the finished look of these bespoke coasters and we are confident they will be popular with visiting tourists and Kirkjuvagr gin enthusiasts! https://lnkd.in/g2eKF48
Another rewarding afternoon yesterday for TJL as we placed our leaf plaque on the Family Tree at Ronald McDonald House Glasgow. The plaque is an acknowledgement of the £1,500 we raised at our annual TJL Christmas Raffle in December. With 1 full day and night stay for a family costing Ronald McDonald House £50, this donation will help to fund a month’s worth of accommodation. Last year we completed an extension at Ronald McDonald House Glasgow which created a new reception area, along with an additional bedroom and more leisure space.
Ronald McDonald House Glasgow has been a wonderful project which we are extremely proud of and we are hopeful the TJL legacy lives on in the house.
