TJL were selected by competitive tender in 2008 as the main exhibition contactor for National Museum of Scotland’s new gallery, “Scotland: A Changing Nation”. The scope was varied, including structures, (with integral display cases), floor finishes, electrical work, graphic media and physical interactives. Variations were controlled within budget and the tight delivery time frame met, including progressive snagging. Finishes were to a high standard.
The “Scotland, A Changing Nation” exhibit within the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh project included sanding and sealing existing hardwood flooring, working in conjunction with the client's designers, and designing and building bespoke joinery pieces in accordance to the designer's guidelines. Interactive displays were manufactured and installed by our own manufacturing division as per the client’s instructions and time lines. The team also worked closely with the museum staff during the installation stage to provide a successful project and quality product.
This project was one of 10 museums across the nation competing for the Art Fund Prize, the UK's biggest arts prize of £100,000 www.artfundprize.org.uk
