Starting life in our stores department in 1998, Joanne quickly demonstrated talents as a “people person” with an ability to get the best from those round about her. She was keen to take on more responsibility and the company recognised that from the linkage between buying and stores, a position within the buying department would enable her to make the most of her abilities, whilst providing a structured career path. She therefore enrolled at the College of Commerce in Glasgow where she successfully completed her professional exams to gain her MCIPS qualification in 2007. Now occupying the position of Buyer within the company Joanne recognises the benefits of on the job training, which gave her a broad understanding of all the constituent parts of her present role. However she has no regrets at leaving behind her steel toe cap boots from her days in the stores, in favour of the more feminine attire she now wears to work.
