As we head towards the autumn, the recession continues to bite and more than ever we must appreciate the important things in life – good customer service, hassle-free projects, and a high quality end product. Our "One Vision" is, to be a great company to work for and a great company to work with, and it has certainly stood us in good stead through these trying economic times. We still appear to be fairing better than any of our competitors. As we continue to provide our customers with a superior service and product, we are confident we can endure any challenging times ahead.
Our Decorating Division was introduced at the end of 2007, and in less than two years it has successfully expanded to a team of 18 and is still growing. At the beginning of 2009, following the acquisition of Bradford and Bingley and Alliance & Leicester, Santander announced that all branches were to rebrand under the Santander name. Our Decorating Division have successfully tendered the contract to rebrand the Bradford and Bingley branches. Works will be carried out over six months, across 17 branches in Scotland and North England, initially including Fraserburgh, Elgin, Aberdeen and Glasgow. The total works will approach £2.5million and will be completed early in 2010.
These works follow on from the existing excellent relationship the division has established with Abbey, who provided us with over £500k worth of work last year, on over 150 jobs spanning from Inverness to Macclesfield.
Our Building Division has recently completed a 37 week refurbishment project within the Davidson Building for the University of Glasgow. This building is home to the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Division research laboratories and associated areas. Please read our case study for further information and images.
This project adds to the long list of work completed within the tertiary education sector in central Scotland. Previous projects include works at Napier and Edinburgh Universities, Strathclyde University, James Watt College, Greenock and the Mackintosh display for the Glasgow School of Art. See our public sector page for details.
We are presently on site within the Hub Building adjacent to the Science Centre for Glasgow School of Art and are due to commence a further project at the Gilbert Scott Building for the University of Glasgow.
Our Building Division is presently heading up the extension to the existing SELECT head offices at the Walled Garden, Bush Estate. This £1.8m project consists of the full extension and internal fit-out over a 34 week duration due to be completed at the end of this month.
The existing building is surrounded by a 2.5m high garden wall, which is a listed structure, and dates back the 19th century when the area was an orchard. This wall is now only 3m from the new extension. Our project team was tasked with working within a very narrow access area to ensure that on one side the existing premises could remain operational throughout, whilst the garden wall on the other side was not damaged during the course of the project. As members of SELECT since 1998 our M&E Services Division are also delighted to have carried out the full electrical fit out package within the building.
We hope that you enjoyed the quick insight into our manufacturing division with our last newsletter (click here if you missed it). We would encourage anyone who would like to know more about our manufacturing facilities to arrange a tour with our Manufacturing Department.
In our next edition we will include news on a number of our commercial projects and our predictions for the year end.
